Hamburg International Environmental Law Conference 2011

In 2011 Hamburg presents itself as European Green Capital. The European Commission chose Hamburg over many others as environmentally friendly city, to bear the label Green Capital 2011. This award was the reason for some lawyers in Hamburg, interested in the environment and international environmental law, to found a new Association with the aim to bundle and promote the scientific discourse in the area of the environmental law on an international level. On 4 February 2010, this Association the Internationaler Umweltrechtstag Hamburg e.V. was created and in September 2011 the First Hamburg International Environmental Law Conference took place. It was joined by about 200 participants from all over the world.
