Fourth Hamburg International Environmental Law Conference (HIELC), 4-5 April 2019
While the previous conference (entitled ‘A Sea Change for Sustainable Ocean Resource Governance’) focused on the aspect of sustainability, HIELC 2019 aims to develop, or link respectively, ‘sustainable maritime governance’ to ‘responsible maritime governance’ by addressing topics as Green/Responsible Shipping, Port State Responsibility and Resource Responsibility. The proceedings of the second Hamburg International Environmental Law Conference 2013 will be shipped to the conference participants these weeks. Third Hamburg International International Environmental Law Conference in 2016
Our overall subject in 2016 will be the conflict between the use of resources (especially in the area of energy law) and (marine) environmental protection with a special focus on sustainability. These areas of tension will be outlined in the keynote lecture. High-ranking plenary lectures will address the sustainable production of energy and the sustainable use of the ocean as an ecological system.

Scientific Advisory Board of the HIELC 2016 recruited
For the scientific advisory board of the HIELC 2016 three very accomplished academics were successfully recruited. Professor Markus Kotzur, Professor Nele Matz-Lück and Professor Alexander Proelss thereby succeed Professor Hans-Joachim Koch and Professor Doris König who successfully created the program of the first two conferences.
